Even though the outside temperatures were record-breaking, the talk inside was purposefully cold at the recent BOSS® Elevation Workshop aimed at helping snow management professionals leverage their software for growth and greater profitability.
BOSS is the creation of The Integra Group, the innovative force behind the landscape industry’s original enterprise business management software.
The three-day workshop was held at the Ariens Co. museum in Brillion, Wisconsin and attracted snow management professionals from across the country.
The event featured a blend of group and small groups sessions led by the BOSS Elevation Team and snow removal professionals who deploy BOSS in their operations. It also included a trip to historic Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers.
Presenters, including Curbside Landscape in Savage, Minnesota, and attendees shared their in-the-field experiences and best practices on how improve to productivity, profitability and growth using BOSS. Participating companies represented both large and small snow operations ranging from $300,000 in annual revenue to north of $6 million.
“Summer is the time of year when snow removal professionals gear up for the coming season and purchase equipment and salt, line up subcontractors and get their payroll and invoicing practices in order,” said Stephanie Leveling of the BOSS Elevation Team. “Since BOSS software plays a critical role in assisting business owners manage these aspects of their business, we felt it was important to come together face-to-face and allow our users to share ideas and solutions with one another.”
Attendees identified some of today’s top pain points for the snow removal market including:
- Rising costs of fuel and salt
- Delays on equipment availability and being forced to stretch the life cycle of existing equipment
- Difficulty identifying qualified, reliable labor
- How will they address these challenges with clients
- The need for more automation technology to help with the challenges
The event’s blend of small group workshops, networking opportunities and one-on-one meetings with BOSS Elevation team members added a valuable personal touch for attendees.
“Every BOSS user deploys it a little differently according to their company’s specific needs,” said Leveling. “Attendees took advantage of learning from their peers how to use the software in ways they hadn’t thought of before. Everyone went home with a list of ideas they can act on immediately for the coming season.”
Leveling added that attendees also learned the value of BOSS’ wellness checks and training opportunities that are offered to landscape contractors and snow removal professionals through the Elevation Team.
“BOSS’ strength not only lies in its ability to tailor solutions for users, but in the exceptional support users receive once they come on board,” said Leveling. “Our success is based on their success, and events like these are held to make sure users are continuously improving and getting the most out of their software.”
